We put Ragnar on the ground surrounded by pumpkins. He was pretty bemused at first and then realized there was dirt. He LOVED the dirt and kept trying to grab it. He also pounded on the pumpkins and grabbed for the vines.
Magnus immediately bent in half when placed on the ground and attempted to grab handfuls of dirt. He inspected the pumpkins and also enjoyed smacking the pumpkins and grabbing for vines.
After Magnus' pictures were done, Nate rearranged the pumpkins and then we took pictures with both of the boys. Oh my goodness were they adorable! They stared at each other's hats as if to say, "hey brother, did you know you have a crazy thing on your head?" They also smacked the pumpkins again and Magnus kept going for the dirt.
We then rode the hay wagon back to the main farm. We saw that they were getting the trebuchet ready to launch and watched that. We then walked around and visited the pigs. We saw them eat some of the pumpkin that was flung. The boys started to get tired, so we quickly took a few pictures on hay bales and then headed home.
Even though we didn't find the perfect pumpkins, we had the perfect experience for the boys' first pumpkin patch.
