The boys are at a fantastic age for visiting the Ballard Locks. There are the boats, the locks themselves, the fish in the fish ladder and of course the train bridge with trains that go over it. They were in heaven! We planned to spend about an hour there before meeting friends nearby for lunch. Both boys loved running the length of the locks and seeing the boats as the docked within the locks.
They enjoyed waving at the boat drivers and passengers. We got to see a train go over the bridge and then went into the underground viewing area for the salmon in the salmon ladder.
They also enjoyed the walk through the gardens before the locks. (Mainly because there were bike racks to swing on)
I saw a family doing portraits by a neat building and thought we could get some photos of the boys too. However, they weren't very cooperative, and it didn't work out as planned...
It was a fun family outing and then was followed by a delicious lunch with friends at Fisherman's Terminal.
